C.A.P.E. stands for the Cajun Advanced Picosatellite Experiment. C.A.P.E. is a group of students, alumni and faculty of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette dedicated to creating engineers with real world practice and design experience. Along the way, C.A.P.E. happens to build and launch picosatellites which fit the [www.cubesat.org CubeSat] form factor. These individuals form a team which have so far built the first Louisiana based artificial satellite, currently awaiting launch. The team is now hard at work defining the goals and missions of CAPE2 and determining the future of the CAPE project.

CAPE Wiki is a repository of information regarding C.A.P.E. and the satellites and research generated through this program. The wiki is provided as a solution to the lack of ability to properly update the static page at http://cape.louisiana.edu and by providing all C.A.P.E. team members with the ability to update the information located here. There are approximately 50 articles on this wiki as of Wednesday, August 27, 2008 at 06:30 UTC. Just take a look at the recent changes page in the navigation link to the left and the rate of information refresh is immediately apparent. The first two weeks that this site was operational saw more edits and content additions than the http://cape.louisiana.edu has seen since its inception. It is hopeful that this rate of growth and maturing will continue into the future.

[edit] Hosting and Affiliation

Hosting is provided by Jonathan Wagner through Dreamhost. As such, this wiki has no affiliation with the University of Louisiana at Lafayette other than the fact that the site describes a project led by students, faculty and alumni of the university. However, the C.A.P.E. project itself is affiliated with the university and gathers some of its funding from it. In honor of the upcoming CAPE1 launch, anyone can save up to $20 a year on hosting costs by visiting Dreamhost and entering the promo code CAPE1.
